Hello, I'm glad you're here. My name is Letitia Lew, but most people call me Tish.

Who Am I?

I am a Singaporean who lived and worked in California for many years before moving back home. I have a BS and MS from Stanford University and over a decade of experience working in tech, including building award-winning apps as a software engineer, and as a product manager leading a team of remote developers to launch a B2B SaaS from scratch within 9 months.

Amidst the whirlwind of fast-paced innovation and deadlines, I carved out some time to embark on a personal quest for self-discovery. I realised that throughout my life I had often felt an internal sense of struggle. Since adolescence I had frequently felt out-of-place, like I didn't understand many things that everyone else seemed to magically intuit. I spent a lot of time reading psychology and writing to try to understand others as well as to understand myself. As a result, I've sometimes been told that I understand more deeply how people think, and am better at fixing communication issues, than others who were 'born with' these skills.

In late 2022, along with millions of other people, I watched the K-drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which was one of my first encounters with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in women. The main character's unique perspective and challenges instinctively resonated with me and reminded me a bit of my own experiences (though to a lesser degree than depicted by her). Driven by a desire to better understand neurodiversity, I began researching ASD, particularly how it presents in women.

Through this journey of self-discovery, I gained a profound sense of empathy and connection with individuals who think differently. I came to appreciate the unique strengths and challenges that come with neurodiversity. This experience has shaped my perspective as a product manager and leader, enabling me to better support and empower team members with diverse thinking styles. Regardless of labels, I feel a strong connection with this community and am committed to being an ally and advocate.

How AI Changed My Life

Before I discovered the potential of generative AI, my mind was a relentless engine, constantly questioning and analysing things. Even seemingly simple tasks, like responding to a friend's text message after a long day at work, could feel draining due to the mental effort required to switch contexts and craft the perfect reply. But then I met ChatGPT and gained a tireless partner with whom to navigate life's challenges, one who is always available to provide me with a solid foundation upon which to refine my thoughts.

By giving me instant context and providing a safe space for me to explore even the most trivial questions without judgment, GenAI has empowered me to approach problems with greater clarity; to push past my limitations and tackle challenges that I might previously have avoided out of fear of failure. Like ultra-wide tyres on a racecar, GenAI acts as a stabilising force for my mind, enabling me to navigate bigger and sharper turns with confidence.

I believe in the transformational power of AI across so many domains – from the hype of "He created a million-dollar business using AI without a single line of code" to the speculation of "ChatGPT eliminating jobs", the massive waves of greed and fear signal that something of unprecedented importance has arrived. I choose to envision a future where AI powers businesses that will help people more effectively, streamlines tedious tasks, and frees up human potential for more meaningful work and increased leisure time. And beyond these broader implications, I am particularly fascinated by the intimate story of how AI can complement an individual's unique cognitive style and elevate them to fulfil their utmost potential.

This personal transformation, along with the staggering potential of AI to reshape our world, is what inspired me to embark on this AI journey and share my experiences.

My Special Interests

Among other pursuits, I have been an avid drinker and student of tea since 2015. While I will refrain from writing extensively about tea here, I hope to evoke the exploratory mindset of the tea enthusiast when I discuss my journey through the realm of AI.

The Vision Behind this Blog

In a Chinese gongfu tea ceremony, the ritual begins long before the leaves ever meet the water. Using hot spring water, the tea master briefly bathes the teaware and the tea leaves themselves before pouring the water away. This initial act, known as "the rinse", serves not just to cleanse, but to heat up and awaken the entire ensemble, ensuring everything is primed for the infusion to come.

I created this blog to share my thoughts and experiences through this journey of personal growth. The worlds of AI, tech products, neurodivergence, and life coaching are my tea leaves and water – all complex, nuanced, and often misunderstood.

Through my writings, I invite you into my process of awakening, hoping to add unique insights that enrich our shared understanding of these compelling topics. Join me in this ritual of exploration, as we steep together in the artful infusion of ideas and experiences.
